What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

They were doing maintenance up till yesterday and it was working fine. Haven't tried downloading from them - it would also help if they would actually post an update on their site of their maintenance. :roll:

 

Now I can't even upload to FileSonic. Web Upload, Remote Upload and FTP upload have not worked for me at all the last 3 days. Anyone else having this problem?

 

Just checked just now - uploading and remote-uploading are working right now.

Too bad... for a minute there, I thought Filesonic was going down. :|

 

For me, the d/l speeds on FileSonic have sucked for the past week or so. Even as a premimum member, d/l speeds have not been over 180 Kbps and usually under 100.

 

I only have slow speed with fs-servers that have numbers over 300 (s303.. etc), maybe it's getting better when they close the wupload-office ...

 

So, not sure if anyone has had time to ingest all the new changes to Filesonic that happened, pretty much without warning.

I've only read it for a few minutes so I could be wrong with the following observations - if I am, don't go flame happy on me:

1) No long-term plans available (beyond 1 month. So no value pricing for long-term status)

2) Files that are set to "collaboration" can be downloaded immediately, but you don't get any payouts from "collaboration set" files. Which brings up the question - are Filesonic Pro and Filesonic "Collaboration" premium members also restricted from downloading files instantly? Wouldn't mind if someone could test this out.

Any other observations from this whole "Collaboration" program?

 

filesonic is planning to go down the Rapidshare/Megaupload route .... offer free downloads for no rewards and get trade organizations off their back.
if that really happens, not sure if that's good or bad for Phun

 

I'm not sure if i got it right: the uploader has to pay more (and gets no reward) so that the downloader has to pay less (nothing) to download the files?
Well, that's very altruistic, but i guess FS is denying reality.

Anybody noticed some slower speeds for free downloaders after that?

 

Filesonic and Wupload have the same boss : Wupload was created to allow people mass remote upload filesonic links after filesonic disabled Ru from filesonic to filesonic (why give users a free service while you can earn lot from them )
Wupload closed their affiliate program, so FS probably will soon follow WU.

As for this forum, if it really happen I think its great , we will have way less traffic for sure, but at least all these cash whores posters will leave and we ll have only real quality files. Just see the I cant beleive hardcore thread , that thread is fucked up by all thoses guys posting bullshit just to earn some cents. Should allow only pepople to use megaupload/rapidshare or Filesonic collaboration links in that thread and the best porn thread ever will be back.

 

You dont know what you are talking about. No-one will share links if he gets nothing from them. Okay, maybe there are some people, but still, this is small percentage and Phun will lose a lot of traffic, clips videos etc

Does anybody share links with MU here? or RS? or MF which is also allowed and free? Practically nobody. When RapidShare was on the top, uploaders have been given of free points, then it turned to money. It's always about something what uploader gets.

Yes, you can be kind and share with movies with the others, but how much people like you will be there? Did you think about it?

This is always the same scheme - with cashwhore uploaders, forum gets traffic, without them its very hard to built successful forum. But it is also how much you allow for uploaders - if rules are weak, they'll spam forum. If rules are strong, it will survive. Like here on Phun. The problem is that FileSonic had launched internal remote so there were many many posts, now this is a leader in the business and most of the uploaders use it so there must be a spam.

I am wondering why admins have not allowed any other filehosts. I understand Oron, because it gives a shit, but why Uploaded, DepostFiles, FileServe are banned? These are very stable hosts at the market.

 

I don't know whats wrong but for the past 10days or so every hour so i gotta log into my filesonic & i'm losing saved DL links i& i gotta re-start the DL t's becoming a huge joke.

The problem with adding new/additional file hosts is the massive influx of spammers posting "mirrors" and making an already messy forum even worse.

There are several others I like and use on other forums, and wouldn't mind seeing used here, but not at the expense of the forum or the increased $$$ of the Ca$h Whores!

i used to use rapidshare, then everybody changed to filesonic but i am not impressed by the premium membership, yesterday it took me 2 hours to download a 280mb file, i regret that i paid till May, really want to get back to RS

 

i use their free service and i get almost full speed with my downloads. i see no point of buying a premium membership when the free service is that good.

My premium filesonic membership ended about a week ago and instead of renewing i tried Zevera which gives you premium access to a whole bunch of hosts. I only used it for a couple of days so far and it works great for me.
