I'm actually not so much into this topic, but what about netload and share-online.biz? Are they no good, either?

I'm no expert here, but why would allowing any other upload sites somehow lower the quality of the content here? The quality is based on the contributions from the users - if they choose to upload to a crappier uploader, no one has to download it! It just seems to me that with all of the crap going on, removing any restrictions on ANY file host regardless of quality might be the only way to keep content up at this point. Worst case scenario - the host sucks....still better than no files at all!

I think people are not following this closely. With Megaupload gone, Filesonic and Fileserve are on their way as well. No more 3rd party file sharing to the masses there. Rapidshare is making policy right now and Hotfile looks to adopt a ban or go the filesonic way. Deposit , Oron are two of the players who are thinking about banning US IP uploads, just like "Uploaded .to" has already done and downloads so that the FBI cannot go after them.
It is not an issue of uploading your stuff on a good host now but it is doing so on one that will keep the stuff on for long enough for it to be available to common sharing. At this time, as the proverb goes..... beggars cannot be choosers. The only one holding firm is the host created by the Pirate bay, Bay files which managed to avoid the takedown , shakedown and has said they will stand their ground despite anything. Also be aware for all who uploaded on megaupload, filesonic and fileserve, to name a few. The Megaupload lawyers are trying very convincingly to interest the FBI to go after the people who uploaded the stuff on them so at this point , cross your fingers they don't like that idea. Through IP, you might be getting summons to appear in count and for now when copyright and piracy is concerned, only in a 3rd world country you can be safe. "Uploaded To" seems to be already cooperating with the FBI as a hacker announed just yesterday that while coordinating the recent widespread attack on Govt Site, part of the Annonymus group, he came across user data accounts in large numbers stored in a Server belonging to that particular company. May be the US IP ban by the company is part of a deal which makes sense in a way since they were the first to do so.
The storm has started but the worst sadly has yet to come. Stand by for more as it unfolds

Well more bad news. Rapidshare has jumped in and is coorperating with the FBI as of this hour. They want to show they do not harbour pirate content and are doing everything to stiffle it out of their hosting system. Hong Kong Govt has been urged to step up investigation against Rapidshare for further possible action since half of their servers are located there. Meanwhile the EU first country to adopt a PIPA and SOPA bill, Poland will go after all file host , banning them territorially or course as their bill called ACTA is due to pass on thurdays. Hackers have already downed many Govt sites in reprisal and have urged further action if the surely to pass bill goes through.

I hate Oron as much as anyone, but we are getting low on hosts. Might as well allow it with an addendum, like Oron+1 other mirror if you use Oron. Deposit is kind of shit as well. Doesn't the time limit increase depending on the download file size? Sometimes you have to wait a day to get 3 pieces of a file. Or did they change that?

I've seen other forums do that.

What people should use is that multi uploader that uploads to .. well I'm not sure how many now since FileSonic and Mega were included. Like 3-4 different mirrors.

Cyberlocker Ecosystem Shocked As Big Players Take Drastic Action

In the wake of last week’s Megaupload shutdown, some of the biggest names in the market are taking drastic action. During the last 48 hours many sites have completely withdrawn their systems for paying uploaders when their files are shared with others, but one of the most dramatic moves came first from Filesonic and today Fileserve. Both services now forbid people from downloading any files they didn’t upload themselves.

While the shutdown last week of Megaupload and the arrest of its founder and management team was certainly dramatic, a situation of perhaps even greater gravity is beginning to emerge.

Over the past 48 to 72 hours, the operators of many prominent cyberlocker services have been taking unprecedented actions that can not simply be explained away by mere coincidence. The details in the Megaupload indictment clearly have some players in the file-hosting world spooked.

One of the key allegations is that between 2005 and mid 2011, Megaupload ran a program that rewarded users for uploading infringing material. A cited internal email allegedly shows staff members discussing cash payments going to people uploading “full popular DVD rips” and “software with keygenerators (Warez)”.

Although Megaupload stopped paying out rewards in July 2011, that didn’t stop the site from getting raided. Other cyberlocker services are clearly hoping they will be more lucky.

Last evening Filesonic, a top 10 player in the file-sharing world with a billion pageviews a month, not only withdrew its affiliate rewards program, but also banned any third parties downloading files. Simply put, users can now only download files from the service that they uploaded themselves.

But according to reports, there’s no guarantee of that. Account owners report that their files are being mass deleted, that’s if their entire account has been banned already.

Fileserve, another leading player, also ended its affiliate program this weekend. Additionally, this morning TorrentFreak received news that Fileserve has now joined Filesonic in banning all 3rd party downloads.

“I just paid for a premium account and can now only download my own fucking files an unlimited number of times,” said one angry user. “What use is that?”

Other users of Fileserve are experiencing an even further degraded level of service. Reports describe mass deletion of their uploads and the banning of accounts on apparent ‘Terms of Service’ violations.

But the changes at these two services appears to be just the tip of a very big and very complex iceberg. Developments at other file-hosting services are widespread.

As previously reported, Uploaded banned all US IP addresses in what appears to be an effort to distance itself from US jurisdiction. Its affiliate program is still listed as operational but the same cannot be said about those run by some of its competitors.

VideoBB and VideoZer have both reportedly closed their rewards program and according to reports have also been mass deleting accounts and huge numbers of files.

Other sites closing their affiliate programs and/or deleting accounts/files include FileJungle, UploadStation and FilePost.

Another interesting development involves so-called ‘release blogs’, sites that report on leaked material but either provide links to the material on cyberlockers or allow their users to do the same. The number of overall releases hasn’t changed much but the links currently being posted on some of these sites show less variety and volume than they did this time last week.

Do you know of other file-hosts/cyberlockers taking similar action? Send us your stories and screenshots to the usual address.

Update: Smaller host UploadBox calls it quits. “All files will be deleted on January 30th. Feel free to download the files you store with UploadBox until this date.”

Update2: Another host, x7.to, shuts down.

Update 3: TorrentFreak has seen evidence that on request PayPal is refunding cash paid to Filesonic over the weekend.

Update 4: FileJungle and UploadStation have disabled all 3rd party downloads.

Update 5: 4shared cancels affiilate program.

Depositfiles waiting time is HUGE !!!!!!
When I dl a 400mb file, need to wait like 6-7hours before dling another one , one of the most painfull for free users for sure.

Oron has same limitation too, not a good choice neither , only good point for oron is that they are porn only, and porn host arent affected by the current situation.

why aren't more people using mediafire?

it's super fast, no dl limits, no captcha, ulimited bandwidth...

mediafire should be the only option at this point

the only downside is that theres a 200mb file limit, but that should be no problem since there are no waiting times in between files, or downlad limits..

however i do see a decline in the amount of content.. whatever you may think of people being paid to upload files, at least it gave them an incentive to upload material.. now people will have to upload from the goodness of their hearts..

The options 'honestly' all look crappy.

Just throwing this out there as a suggestion but what about a switch from the use of filehosting all together? Any particular reason not to move to uploading/posting torrent links?

I may give mediafire a try again - I tried them a couple years ago and my files were QUICKLY deleted (like within a couple of days). So that's what deterred me from using them.

The lack of content isn't surprising but it's also understandable and not just from a pure "cash reward" angle - many uploaders are still waiting for the dust settle, to see how the filehost situation figures out. I, myself, wanted to do some uploads over the weekend, but I'm definitely holding out for at least a week. Maybe by then, we'll all know how the situation stands and if there are any changes to phun regarding filehosts.

To your last point - that may be the one good thing that comes out of this whole filesharing mess: people sharing stuff just for the joy of sharing, once again. While it's true that virtual rewards certainly gave us many more uploaders, it also gave us a whole mess of spammers & reposters - and I certainly won't miss that latter group. ;)

Sure DF has long waiting time but they offer GoldKey (for free) to uploaders and you can download as Premium.

MediaFire is about to be closed soon.

    ----

As to the topic. Not many filehosts left now:

    - Deposit
    - Oron
    - TurboBit
    - NetLoad
    - Extabit
