what a joke...who's next? Haley Joel Osment?. Gregory Peck, Liz Taylor, Jimmy Cagney, Nicholson - real stars. Hollywood nowdays is one big joke...and i like Scarlett, but give her time, she's not that big yet.

 

She's a little young, sure, but she's already been in quite a few superb movies, including three Woody Allen movies.
Already has a Tony and a BAFTA, and was nonimated for a Golden Globe twice.


But if you want HUGE names, you can't complain either.

Looking good, but a bit premature. I think the stars themselves have to cough up something like 10-15k out of their own pocket for these "honors." The fact that she went for it at her age and at this point in her career is kind of disturbing. Thanks!

 

It's no longer a secret that stars are purchased, but lost in this is the fact that one cannot simply call up and ask to buy one. It has to be offered. So it's "pure" in that sense, even though ultimately the star does dish out the scratch.

Scarlett is, in my opinion, a reach. She's a decent actress, and has been in some good films, but a star on the Walk of Fame? It took Dennis Hopper up until he was on his deathbed to get one, but this twentysomething has one already? I'm sorry, that bird just doesn't fly. She doesn't even have a career-defining work yet. If anything, I suppose it could be Lost In Translation, but her performance in that was uneven at best.

And JLo has one now, too? I don't want to hear that her albums made her famous, because as far as I'm concerned, she's just another celeb who is more well known for their love life than their career. She got on the map because she was banging Puffy, and was in the car during the whole gun incident.

 

People get nominated for it, but ultimately it's paid for -something like $30k or $40k I believe.

She's 27 with 39 movie & tv titles on her IMDB entry. Pretty impressive.

That doesn't mean anything. Compare that to Daniel Day Lewis, who has all of 28 credited roles in his career, including two that have yet to be completed, and tell me who has the more impressive career.
