  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    Terror.

  3. Res is obviously short for resolution which by definition refers to size/pixel count. Period.

This will probably go over alot of people's heads, but here goes. Resolution is strictly a cerebral measure whereas quality is a visceral measure with individual perception being paramount.

That is so, so wrong in this context.

"Image resolution is an umbrella term that describes the detail an image holds. Higher resolution means more image detail."

Just because a digital pictures has lots of pixels in no way indicates it's high-resolution. It just means it has a whole lot of pixels jammed into a crappy quality pictures in some cases.

That is only one measurement, but at it's base High-Resolution means High-Detail. Which can be both size and detail. To ignore this fact is being purposefully argumentative or ignorant. Using your definition we can make every single picture on this board UUUUUUHQ by simply opening it in paint and making it bigger. (Which, by the way, people do all of the time and then post, "look HQ image posted" and it's the same picture with more pixels).

I'm still surprised so many people don't get this, or understand it.

  5. Quality should be a visceral measure, but most people by default consider a pic that's 2000 x 3000 hq and one that's 1000 or less lq because it's much easier to assign a numeric value to the assessment of quality or anything else for that matter. I never said hq though. High as in high number of and res/resolution as in pixels. The context seemed pretty cut and dry to me.

No, you're right. Some folks here just aren't clear on the concept of High Quality.
