No More Tagged Pics From "Just Jared" unless....

I can't stand a website that acts like the images they find elsewhere are proprietary. Fuck them. We at phun.org are not going to promote their content! Besides, most of the images JJ posts will show up in higher resolution eventually, and that's more important than having them now!

If any of you content posters have an issue with my directive, please feel free to contact me. But don't bitch about your posts being deleted/trashed after the fact. You will get no sympathy from me.

That's cool. I think they do sometimes do their own exclusive photoshoots though, which seems to me like that'd be ok posting here since they won't show up elsewhere.

 

I'm not a fan of the obnoxious tagging, but how are JJ pics any different than other tagged pics? I'm all for keeping celebs as a HQ only section, but maybe move the jj pics to the Celebs X section? Just a thought.

 

You should add Eye Prime to the list too, they place that tag in the most obnoxious spots, usually over any point of interest.

 

Not a fan of this move, but whatever. But I do agree with betterthanyou. How is JJ any different than any other website or fansite that tags the pictures? I think you should just continue to allow JJ pictures.

It's true. A fair amount of good stuff shows up on JJ and never anywhere else.

Agreed. Why single out 1 website? Not to piss you off but seems like members want the pics and it's you that have a beef with that one site. JMI.....

 

My opinion too.

I hate JJ because of the nasty yellow tag and border but how are the other tagged pictures better? They aren't. JJ is even better than the most similar sites that put tag on the pictures they publish because JJ's pictures are always 1 222 pixels in height which is MQ (some members of this forum even consider such dimension as HQ) and most similar sites offer LQ, so how is tagged LQ better than tagged MQ? JJ's tags are one of the worst but I'll always prefer MQ over LQ.

If you ban Just Jared than you should ban all tagged pictures on this forum by the same reason that you ban JJ, all of them aim to promote their sites...

Is this really necessary? Yes, the tags are annoying (all of them are), but they don't bother me to the point where I don't want to see the photos. I actually have a bigger gripe with "fansite" tags than with anything JJ puts out. At least they're not plastered all over the main part of the photos. I agree with the others. If you're going to ban one, then ban them all. Otherwise, this just looks like a personal grudge. Not that I don't understand why you hate them. I do.

 

I do dislike tags, like all of us. But I;d rather have the pics than not.

I say Scribe is right enough though. Unless the pics are Just Jared exclusives or something then I am okay with them coming from somewhere else. Why not trial the idea for o month and see if it makes a difference to the rate pics come in? I doubt it will slow it up as some of the folks in here seem to be able to get images as they are taken

 

Why don't you just make another sub-forum for JJ pics, since that's what you like to do (see Celeb Extra section).

I don't understand all this segregating of pics, depending on type, quality, etc. If it's a celeb picture / photo, it should go with all the celebrity pictures.

I guarantee that most people don't even notice the JJ tags. Has Phun lost a bunch of subscribers to JJ? We don't go to JJ for our celeb pics. We come to Phun.

IMO it is not about the quality of the pix or the size. It is about a specific website claiming the pix as their own in order to promote their site. This is akin to somebody copying a mainstream video and putting their website in the video to claim it as their own. I think that kind of thing sucks.

Ban them all, UNLESS the principle, eg. ashley tisdale, has tagged and released them. Burn them all down to the ground.

 

IMO the tags in http://forum.phun.org/showthread.php?t=1134972 for example are the same as Just Jared tags

I'm aware that JJ has some exclusive pics and I'm fine with those.

And it's not strictly about quality, it's about those big ugly tags. Jamms mentioned Eye Prime and he's right about them too. I hate tags or watermarks that obscure the subject of the photo. What kind of moron does that? *coughGettyImagescough*

Lets just try to go after the best content first. If it doesn't show up after a few hours of the LQ/MQish stuff, then so be it, post the LQs.

One other thing though, and it's already in the rules, don't post those upscaled pics that some nitwit enlarged from 1024 pixels to 2400 pixels. WTF, that's just ignorant.

 

I wouldn't say the JJ tag obscures the photo. All it is is a yellow tag around the border. Not that distracting. The JJ tag in the bottom corner doesn't bother me, either, mainly because almost everyone has a tag in the bottom corner. Just continue to allow JJ pictures. I'd much rather see those than really LQ tagged images. And I'd also rather see the pictures as soon as possible, rather than have to wait until good quality pictures surface - which they sometimes never even do.
