either her acting or the written character is way off base

she is almost unwatchable, although the show is good

 

The fact that her character has Asperger's, you mean? I'm not entirely caught up (haven't seen the last episode), but she's been doing a pretty good job of portraying it, in my opinion.

 

She acts the way her character was written. I think she does a great job. IMO

 

her character became unbelievable to me when she said "I can't have sex at work..." after she walked into a bar and asked a man to have sex with her like a robot

not believeable in any sense of the word

that diminished any credibility she had on that show

I like her as an actress, think she was miscast

 

I don't agree at all. It falls under the same guidelines as not wanting to let the ambulance with the guy having a heart attack across the bridge because it would violate her crime scene. She doesn't understand social interaction at all, so sticks to the rules that have been explained to her by her mentor. Obviously, Asperger's varies in degree, but I've known someone with it, and her behavior so far is actually fairly close. (He is a guy, not a girl, and would get punched if he tried to pick someone up in the bar like she did, but that's gender for you)

I have heard some critics who felt her social disorder should have been spelled out explicitly ('Oh her? She has Asperger's. It blah blah blah'), because they worried the audience would react poorly to her character otherwise, but I thought it was pretty obvious what was up by the end of the first episode.

But anyway, pretty woman, and Demian Bichir is awesome.
