    Very sad but it is enlightening as if it were a white gang beating up a black guy, I am confident it would be prosecuted as a "hate crime". For some reason, if it is a black gang, we assume it isn't hate based -- it is just what those gangs do. . . Intriguing how our biases overlay our very assumptions. FOR EXAMPLE, the Duke Lacrosse rape case (which got unending news coverage) -- a kid who was arrested for murder in Durham (same town) was out on something like $25,000 bail -- but when the three white kids allegedly (and on such pathetic evidence) rape a black girl, their bail was in the millions.
