    On a related note, in my experience very few women (in the US, at least) stopped shaving their legs and armpits, even in the 60s . Hairy legs and pits were confined to hard-core hippie chicks, "earth mothers" or back-to-nature types, or those who went out of their way to reject convention for any reasons (and of course some butch lesbians), but definitely not for the great majority of women, including those in their teens and twenties.
