Good suggestions. Was trying to figure out how to do that seamlessly for the end user, and then noticed that they mentioned 'in passing' in the FAQ that the URL gets updated with the playback info. :thumbs:

Only thing I don't like about that with a movie is you'd have to re-encode first. Using a high bitrate to do that it's not really a problem quality-wise, but it is an extra step. As a means to an end, though, it's workable.

I tend to prefer the subtle, acid-like morphing of the images myself, rather than a slam-bang 'here-they-are, now open wide and say hel-lo!', but to each their own, I suppose. That's what this thread is for, after all...

I think gfycat's got some definite potential, if they build it out right. It's not really designed for high-quality distribution anyway; it's built instead to efficiently deliver certain (niche?) content at low bandwidth.

Hehe...well, I suppose I've learned, in my lifetime, never to try and assume what 'most people would like'....

Here's the thing... I like gifs because of their limitations. Making a good one is hard. Exploring the edges of what's possible within limits, even if they are artificial like hiaku or limericks is, to me, what makes Art. That is why I'm not sure if I like gfycat. In ways it makes gifs too easy. That's why I'm trying to look at the limits of that medium.


Also there are definite limits to what anyone can do for 'free'


The one thing I do like about gyfycat is the site makes some crap gifs. If your thinking you can upload video to gifycat and get usable gifs back, good luck.

You can save 'video as' instead of the usual gif. Plus you can pause while you watch and re-size. Just amazing.

Weird day for her I would have imagined. Dan goes dressed up so does Emma. Rupert cannot be bothered just like the other girls(Luna and Cho). So Emma clearly thought they were going to be indoors so no bra. What a mistake for her, but nice for the boys and us. Then you have the location which was all tiles that were so smooth that you could see your own reflection. Totally giving them all a peek up Emma dress.

All in all, you lucky bastards.
