    It's not even that she's a woman. Voyager was just a ridiculously flawed show from the get-go.

    Though, the episode Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy (6x04) is one of the best ever (all series combined)! A few other (almost always with the doctor or 7of9 as main character) are pretty good.

    The problem has never been Kate Mulgrew but the writing/producing.

    Ron Moore left. That was a big part of it. If I remember correctly, he took all the ideas he had for Voyager and put them into Battlestar Galactica.

    Exactly. Voyager had it's moments, and Janeway had hers (though NEVER sexually, IMO), but compared to far superior DS9 running at the same time for most of it's run, Voyager was seriously lacking. Half the crew were barely more than blank slates by the end of the series, and if it wasn't for the Doctor and 7 of 9, I'd argue the writers literally didn't care about their characters at all and were just filing for paychecks every week.

    In Contrast, I've recently been rewatching Enterprise, and found it superior to what I remembered. The second season, which I always thought was 90% recycled TNG plots was actually pretty good. Worth a revisit for Trek fans.
