    I think with me it's just the way my brain perceives that expression, like apples and oranges are both fruit, so they're the same. Even though they're different types of fruit, the bigger picture is that they're fruit. They're both tasty and juicy. Jessica and Emmy are both tasty and juicy. Wait, where was I going with this?

    I guess it comes down to how much distinction you want to place between the two things you're comparing. If I really wanted to say that two things share absolutely nothing in common, labeling one as a planet and one as a bicycle makes perfect sense. What do those two things have in common? Are they both plants? No. Are they both animals? No. Are they both food? No. Are they both objects? I mean, I guess? Really though, that's about as close as it gets.
