Imagebam is fucking RIDDLED with pop-up ads and redirects on mobile. Totally unusable.

Anywho, I'd like to go up her middle a ton

They don't work on mobile.

 

Android or iOS? I'm BlackBerry so I know it won't work there. If Android, ABP says it works, but there are several configs depending on your version and rooted vs non-rooted. If you have an iPhone, you're right...and would be SOL for ABP or any other blocking ....

 

iOS. I've already tried using two different ad blocker apps, including AdBlocker itself. Neither of them work to prevent these insidious pop-up redirects. It's also gotten worse. Imagebam is literally unusable at this point.

 

THIS. Thank you! I thought I was the only one to find imagebam a total and utter pain in the ass. On the iPad it's fucking useless. Found some minor relief with an app called Weblock, but it's still largely unusable. God how I hate imagebam! Scum...

 

I think you should hate your iPad. I do. Trying to do tabbed browsing is a joke. Ads, pop-ups, all kinds of crap. A good laptop kills iPads every day.

 

Well, an iPad is like a shortened version of a laptop, just like a laptop is a shortened version of a desktop. You sacrifice power for portability. Tabbed browsing on an iPad is just tricker because you can't have both the tabs open side by side for comparison.

It's funny how far we've come though. It wasn't too long ago that I marveled at just having the Internet on my phone. Now, we get to quibble over tiny nuisances.

 

Time for a Surface, or some laptop that transforms into a tablet. Then you can have a regular OS and browser on it with all the ad blocking abilities.

 

I've always thought a laptop/pad hybrid was a good idea, but I can't go the PC route after having used Mac for all these years. I'm waiting for Apple to do some type of laptop/pad hybrid. I think I'll be waiting a long time.

 

I can have 25 tabs going on my laptop. When I switch tabs the web page is there immediately. When I switch tabs on an iPad, I have to wait for each page to load on each tab. It's just brutal. On my laptop all I need is a browser, any browser, and I'm all over the net. On my iPad I need a seperate app for about half the web sites I go to.

I don't get it.

 

I guess things are just more attenuated to computer browsing and less so on mobile. If we ask Green Bastard's magic tech 8-ball, it will provide answers to the questions we ponder.
