    It does not matter whether one Photoshop, Gimp or whatever used.
    What is important is the support of layers.
    Here is thus as for example in Photoshop Elements you understand the basics.

    Or so it goes with any program that supports layers.
    And before the question comes futureprez2016 used a Photoshop version from 2002 and Marquez in 2007 so you see it does not always have the newest.
