Um, I don't think "political correctness" has anything to do with old, white men getting flustered over a young, white actress dating/hooking-up with a black man. That's just old fashioned racism, really. Nothing political about it. It's also really, really funny to watch.

I'm sure if you dig deep enough everyone has some prejudice. No one is "perfect". The only real difference is that some people are more honest than others.

 

Ok. I could be way off base, but I swear that when I read that all I got was the implication that we're all racist. Some are just lying about not being so?

The reality is that every single human being in this world is prejudice. Prejudice: preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

It's human to be prejudice. It's ignorant to be racist.

I am a white guy who fucked a skinny punk rock tattoo girl as his first. Next came a skinny crazy 18 year old stripper (i was 17). She was white, skinny(like both were toooo skinny for most people) covered and tattoos. I like that type of girl. The reality is that the idea that that's "my type" is a form of prejudice. It's not a horrible thing to be prejudice. It's a horrible thing to be horrible to other people.

I can see the 6'8 black guy turn the corner outa nowhere in the middle of long beach at 1:30 am and have that first instinct of danger. Sure is it a bit racist? Kinda. Is it prejudice? For sure. I grew up in a multi cultural place, Southern California. Yet my friends tended to be white and such because their parents were friends with my parents. My parents still have a little bit broken in them from their parents. Regardless of that I grew up in a peaceful home with not a single bit of racism or negative to anyone besides free loaders(any race. My old man hates em).

Yet because of the people I was around the friends I had and the experiences etc etc. When I see the guy turn the corner its an unconcious reaction. It's a self defense mechanism in my brain that says "Hey man WTF. Were not sure about this.. we got conflicting information and were not sure but this is scary"

There needs to be a clear understanding between someone who has a prejudice and someone who is an acknowledged racist.
