    Perspective.

    Probably shooting with a decently long telephoto lens. Digital cameras are becoming a lot more advanced....even though it looks like the photgrapher is close, they're more likely a lot further back than you think. Telephoto lenses squish background/foreground objects together to make them appear right next to each other.
