1) He's saying that being cheap doesn't make it shitty, and doesn't make the other stuff good by comparison. Chinese steel, for example, isn't cheap because it's poorly-made, it's cheap because there's an overwhelming surplus of it thanks to China's economic slowdown. Whether it's actually good steel or not is another question, but the fact that all of this quality panic has coincided with it making other countries' steel producers uncompetitive should tell you that it''s likely just propaganda. (The west does propaganda too!)

2) I think here he's just saying that China doesn't have to worry about fuel resources since they buy all their fuel anyway. I don't know what the current projections for peak oil are, but I don't think its close enough that they have to worry about it yet. Besides, you can only grow so much. And they're already starting to pivot heavily towards renewable. In fact, China is kicking our asses in that department. After being the world's leader in pollution, of course. But hey, better late than never, right?

3) Oh sure they will. Well, I guess I don't know if automation is more cost-effective than a sweatshop yet, but it will be eventually. It's certainly more business-friendly than paying a union worker a living wage with yearly raises. We talk about automation today like it's some new thing, but really it's been happening for decades. My mom used to be a telephone switchboard operator. That hasn't been a job since, what, the 60s?

4) China doesn't only manufacture garbage. The iPhone is assembled there, and won't ever be assembled in America, or any western nation. We simply don't have the infrastructure that the Chinese have. I was reading articles about how Foxconn, the company that makes the iPhone, could hire 3,000 people overnight, AND convince them to live on-site in shitty little dorms so they could be on-call 24/7. That would never happen here. Not just because American workers would never go for it, but because even if they would it's logistically impossible to gather workers in the numbers you can in China.

Anyway, it will never happen that consumers choose higher-quality products primarily over less-expensive ones. And if competing with China means deregulating all of our industries, then let China win. Besides, we're going to have to start looking at things like universal income with the way automation is going to take historically working-class jobs. Could you imagine what would happen to our economy if fast food suddenly automated? It's not that far off.

I find it a bit amusing that they focus so hard right now. The focus should have been to rally people to vote for Hillary earlier. They have every right to protest off course but we have the president we have.

 

They removed almost EVERYTHING... and it happened the moment Trump took office which is standard operating procedure when there is a change in Presidency. Those pages are moved from whitehouse.gov to obamawhitehouse.archives.gov

But what this show is just how quick and willing are all of the media to create false narratives since all of them report about those pages "disappearing" from White House site without reporting the actual truth... that those pages would "disappear" even if Hillary won the elections! There is a place for lower quality cheap stuff. Sometimes all I need is something cheap, like from a dollar store. I dont care about the quality of a burger flipper that I am going to take camping, then throw it away. Sometimes quality absolutely matters, like with tools, cars, electronics, etc. Unfortunately, I think there is a need for good stuff and crappy stuff.

They voiced their opinions, what else can you do? Its not the responsibility of celebrities to make sure idiots don't vote against their own interests.

No, that is the truth. New administration, new web-page. The one reflecting views and actions of the current White House. You may disagree with those views but that is how it work. I'm sure if we go back 8 years we'd find quite a few things that were replaced with radically different material once Obama took over... and there were people who didn't agree with those changes either. But nobody complained about it the way they are today because everyone understood that it is only normal to have policy changes.

Once they create any sort of healthcare plan... yes I do. But do you think healthcare would be so prominent on previous version if Affordable Care Act wasn't central policy of Obama administration? Same goes for civil rights, once this administration get some achievement (or "achievement") there will be a page about it... before that, everything they could post is views and Obama administrations achievements (or "achievements"). And that is the truth about everything! Hell, at this point Trump doesn't even have a Cabinet considering only Mattis and Kelly are confirmed so far.

Like it or not, both were campaign promises... especially the one about ACA.

If secure borders make Trump a racist then Mexico and basically every where else is racist too.
