just a thought / suggestion / advice.

Hi vid-posters,
first of all - thanks for contributing. (as long as it´s none of the stuff mentioned here or hosted there, of course - that´s the point any of the mods here will get at least unfriendly)

The vid-mania is a very vivacious part of PHUN.

Ever had the feeling that although you invested time to upload and post a vid here your thread gets lost too soon? no replies?
Well - give your thread a chance - be descriptive.
Add some informations about file-size, duration of the vid and file-format.
And most of all - add screencaps. they are much more teasing than just a plain link.

Useful and easy-to-handle programs to create screencaps of (okay, maybe almost) every kind of vid-file-format are:

media player classic (alternative source)
Imagegrabber II

If you need advice for posting the caps please have a look at this tutorial.

Now - have fun and success with your posts and, if you make up your mind i´m pretty sure you´ll find a lot of phun-members who will enjoy your posts, too.

maybe there has been intended a little beyond than just giving a few tips...

what am i supposed to tell a vid-poster who provides caps, infos and a download-link seeing his efforts more or less ruined by thread-whoring of others posting plain bookmark-collections or blog-sites for traffic-gain?
bad luck because others are smarter?
don´t think so...

River and fellow members, I have obsessive compulsive disorder, so I think my following comments are caused by that. I hate sifting through this forum, its a mess. That being said. I love the fact that river posted this thread. I think the following things should be mandatory for a vid forum post: either name of vid or name of girl in vid or descriptive as possible for a title. video size in mb. video runtime. who you hosted it with, i.e. rapidshare, megaupload, etc. and at least 2 screen shots of the clip. and the type of file it is.
If all of this was done, this vid forum would be SOOOOO much easier to navigate and it would be such a joy to look through. Why spend so much time uploading vids for people and not give as much info as possible to let them decide if they want to download it or not?
Ok, I am done ranting and I am sorry to the posters who do these things already(there are only a few) and thanks to all who contribute, you make this place the best site on the web.

it would be easy for us to implement a rule - no caps - thread gone.
lots of extra-work, but it coud be done.
take it as a plea.

 

My comments were not a comment on the mod work, sorry if they were miscontrued as such. When I say "mess", I just mean that peoples posts are messy. The mods always and continue to do a kick ass job. (If i backpeddle any more, i am gonna trip)

what concerns me most is that "good-willing" (those who want to share without generating traffic for their sites etc.) posters might be scared off from posting.

 

maybe those who are posting streaming-vids can do us a favor, too....

please tag your thread-titles with [stream] or at least make it clear for all by a remark within your threads.

just a decent reminder... voices are rising to trash threads without some basic informations... (file-size, vid-format, -duration, caps) - guess you all don´t really want that.

and how about adding a [stream] in the title of the thread for streaming vids?

 

Thats the best idea Ive heard all day. I hate the streaming vids and hate it even more when I unknowingly click on one of those posts . I try to remember the posters who do the streaming vids and avoid them, but its hard.

If I can pipe up here just real quick ...

I'm new here and I've uploaded a few vids following all the advice given. Some of them have been downloaded hundreds of times, by hundreds I mean over 400 times, and so far only a few cool guys have piped up to say thanks.

A lot of uploaders do it just to give back, like me. I'm not pimping any streaming site, just trying to get the pr0n out to the horny masses.

Maybe it's because people don't realize the work that's involved in organizing, screen capping, uploading to rapidshare, uploading to image venue, writing a description, putting it all together in a post and then checking all your links.

Like I said, I think all the uploaders are happy to share and a simple thanks now and then would go a long way. Especially when we know our stuff is popular by all the d/l's.

we are a user-friendly, non-elitist forum, but just have in mind what you would tell people who are following the given guidelines see their effort ruined by others not. bad luck? quite disencouraging... at a certain point you might miss some good content.
just think about that.

 

Adding "stream" in the title is a great idea! My rule of thumb right now is if a poster usually posts streamed content, I don't bother with it. I only look at posts where you can actually download the video instead of going to some site where they want you to pay for something or a site that slows down my computer. I also reply to those who upload videos for download.

That is just me though.

 

Hey River, can you guys do some sort of Rep thing? That way you don't have to reply but the more reps you get off of a thread, the better (hopefully) you can feel you know?
