No, but common courtesy and respect for others is always a good rule to follow. Especially when you are new here.

True and I apologize. You were disrespected yourself. Having said that, I recommend toning it down all the same. We try to keep things pretty upbeat around here. If you dint like the celeb, just stay out of the thread. This forum is more about enjoying the pics there are plenty of opinion threads in the general forum.

I appreciate the advice, but we don't have to stay out of the thread if we don't like a celebrity. I've seen moderators come in here and state explicitly that we are allowed to say whatever we want about the celebrity, we have that right.

I mean, it may sound flippant, but this really is a discussion forum. Maybe instead of advising me to avoid certain threads, maybe you should advise the people who get bent out of shape to avoid sites like this. They're the problem, not me.

 

Yes, you can speak your mind and there is no rule against it. That does not mean you have to. I'll be the first to admit that I have made my share of negative comments... But not until well after I'd established myself here and contributed to the celeb forums. We are a friendly and inviting bunch, but if we think someone is trolling, we get defensive.

 

It was this comment that was inflammatory because it was directed at a member. Boom's comment is not inflammatory whatsoever since it was directed at the content of the thread. There's a difference.

 

And I appreciate the head's up, bro. I honestly do. You didn't have to reach out, but you did, and that was very cool of you. Your point is well-taken, and something I will keep in mind in the future.

Exactly. And please don't mistake me for being ungrateful for linusnc's contributions. That isn't the case at all. They are very nice pictures, and I very much appreciate his effort in uploading them. I just happen to think Bristol Palin is...well, I've already made that point, so I won't bring it up again.

 

I shouldn't have lashed out like that as it wasn't called for. I should have explained instead of vented so I'll do that instead. But I do apologize for being crude.
It has become more than just common practice for relatively newer members to contribute nothing but derisive and nasty comments about the persons being depicted in the photos posted and it has become overly tiresome. There are even a few who's ONLY postings have been nothing but lame opinions and useless drivel while contributing nothing in the way of constructive comments are even content of any kind. I too have made comments in the past that, while not as crass as calling some quasi-celeb I've never met a dumb cunt just because I don't like her (well, maybe Kate plus 80), were still not helpful in the slightest but I've learned the mood of the masses here and have refrained from that kind of childishness since. The pictures are posted here to be viewed and many people enjoy pics of celebs that others might despise. For example, I personally think Sarah Palin in physically attractive but I can guarantee, I can't open a single pic posting about her without somebody posting some useless opinion about how much they hate her or her politics or her family. I don't think the mods intended the concept of a discussion forum to be a back and forth bashing/defending a picture or video unless the content is intended to illicit just that kind of response. Maybe I'm wrong, but from all the admin responses I've ever seen, the practice of flaming is actually discouraged with admin comments sounding more or less like this "if you don't like the picture/thread/person/video...then don't click on the link. No need to make negative comments".

 

the general rule of any post of anyone celeb is you can't post bad comments on someone. they WILL ban you for a nice long 2 week vacation if you do. same goes for being derogatory towards any member either. trust me - 3 bans - i know all too well.

just be smart and keep your comments about who you hate to yourself - you'll be better for it.

besides, if you want a discussion place, i think it's called the "general forum" here.
