Had to go with 6, because of the excellent heat effect on the thruster on the left.

 

Voted #5 as it was nice and clean...........just stood out among the rest to me......P4 said it was OK to comment on sigs this week as an experiment...........#4 would have kicked ass if a diff image was used to the right.......maybe a rocket launching....or pretty much anything with some contrast to the other image.........So many images would have worked better with #4...........that would have made it a sure winner..........IMO.........

also sig#6 is great, i love the picture, but don't like this black border and font,
finally voted for sig #5 great pics, cool font, subtile border

Voted for #6, I loved the motion blur effect on the jet, although I found the random circle towards the center a little off-setting. It was obviously from a render overlay but it distracted from the overall composition, simply erasing or clone-stamping it out would have been much more effective.

Regardless I still found it to be the best! :thumbs:

Voted. I went for 6 too. I just think it was a great choice of pic and the subtle blur and lighting looks great.

 

You know, even though I voted for it, and really like it, it could be argued that #6 be disqualified because it's obviously NOT in space. It's very much planetary, without even stars in the sky.

I'd still vote for it again.

Just saying.

 

To be honest, nothing stands out sig wise.

As I scroll up and down 3 looks cool but 6's depth beats it.
I was looking at it all visually and wondering "what would I like out of a sig?", and the one that showed itself was 6. Shame it's just a crop.

I hope to take part next week and try my hand. I know I haven't been too active as of late but I want to be. Good luck too all participating, and btw... the public voting is a damn good thing, defiantly. I and a couple others have been thinking it for a while.

The comments are good also, it helps us "learn" (without being patronising)... because when someone points out something in a sig it makes YOU look at it and understand what OTHERS are seeing.

So thanks P4 for changing the rules, even if it's just a test, but I think it can/could evolve the SOTW/Creative Backyard, I'll take some construcive critisism as good as the next guy... as long as others do.
After all, we're all just fellas behind a keyboard.

Not sure what is going on with Sig #1, but all the voters for it have zero posts and all where created on 10/4.

I dont think the entrants name should be posted. Isnt the bitch slap of DQ enough for a noob? Additionally, the mods know who it is, and I'm certain special observation will be a matter of course.
