The Attention Deficit Disorder Thread

All countries have their good and bad neighborhoods. I guess some just have more than others.

 

Not really......I've had this discussion often with people.....the situation is just too complex.....like for example.......our police are poorly trained, badly equipped and corrupt.......now you can start a movement to get them better trained.....but they'll still lack equipment.....so then they'll go out and buy cheap equipment.....while will break down and render their training pointless.......or you could imply fund for new weapons and equipment.....but then they wouldn't know how to use it properly so it would equal the same thing.......of course.....in order to do any of this you have to make sure that the money that is given to them is not stolen away via corruption....okay so you try to deal with corruption.......how do you stop corruption when everybody who is in charge is corrupt......okay well you stop electing them.......that won't work.....because 60% of the voters are illiterate and only vote because the politician promises to buy them all a good lunch (I'm not joking)..........okay so you improve the education system and make sure everybody is educated enough to vote.......doesn't happen because the politicians are corrupt.

 

It's the people.....not the places really....the mindset of the people.

Okkervil River have two albums that I really enjoy: 'Stage Names' and 'Stand ins'

 

Those two albums are pretty great imo. Their latest album 'I am very far' is good, but not the same level as the former two

 

What are some of your top albums in general?

 

That's a really hard question. Are we talking last year, last 10 years, of all time to include Beatles and Rolling Stones ... and honestly my mood changes all the time and with it my taste in music. When I was in high school and undergrad I listened to a lot of hip hop, so at that time A Tribe Called Quest or OutKast would have been on the list. Now I listen to a lot more indie rock, mostly mellower stuff. I have a really hard time picking tops of anything, what ever strikes me in the moment

 

I know that doesn't help ...
