What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

well, it`s an international forum - you can`t require Oxford-English from everyone.

actually this was the topic that needed correction... you figure wrong.
the only "profitable" item on phun might be traffic for the owner in terms of "ads" (mind you - everyone here can enjoy phun for free). a cash-host-free SVF would be dead and phun would lose a decent part of traffic.

 

anyone else getting terrible download speeds from filesonic at the moment??

If you try to download as free do you also have problems to download because the counter resets to 30s?

 

Even after having my two main HF accounts suspended a couple months ago, I started up another brand new account a month back just to see if things would get better with Hotfile. WELL, that ended today. :|

My third - and most likely - final Hotfile account just got nixed, not even a month old.

I'm thinking it's time to go back to basics... and that means - wait for it - RAPIDSHARE!

I still plan to offer multi-filehost options, but just wondering - who still uses Rapidshare to download? If any of your downloaders have a spare moment, drop by a vote on this poll I started regarding Rapidshare. Like to know the thoughts of downloaders only... no need for uploaders to expunge their distaste of Rapidshare - just more concerned for the folks I'm sharing with. :thumbs:

The only sucky thing - I'd have to actually pay to upload and share stuff on Rapidshare. :headache:

 

My issue with Filesonic these days is when I start downloading multiparts, (Premium of course) almost invariably one piece will pop up with some huge amount of time - like ten hours remaining for a couple of hundred megs- and sometimes it will then slow down some more! Their days of fast- full downloads are long gone.

 

FS seems to ebb and flow, sometimes downloading quickly and at other times slowly. There is neither rhyme nor reason to the fluctuations. I've had large sized files download in minutes and smaller clips in the same group take ten times longer. It drives me crazy! Last week FS worked relatively well and now this week I have to fight for every file I download. The problem is the fact that 80% of the clips I like are FS without mirrors.

Check the url of the download (not the offered link, but the link that appears in your dl-manager, hxxp://s120.filesonic..., or
hxxp://s132.filesonic.com/download/419605944/4d9372ed/1902adb8/2a67d/2/4fd8e414/332257244cbd70eaf5f456239811ee7b338cbf38
for example, the number after "s" is the FS server #)
If you have a file with extremly slow speed, cancel the download and try again, sometimes you will get the same file from another FS-server (sXXX.filesonic...) and hopefully with higher speed.
If that don't work i normally just bookmark the post and mostly (99%) the next day i get full speed.

My HF account has been suspended today, and if i counted right i received exactly 60 abuse reports from them. Maybe that's the magic number ... so you better count them

Would be interesting to know how many abuse notifications mokkoriman got with his accounts ... just to find out the system behind that.

 

When they suspended mine about 3 weeks ago, I only got about a total of 5 in a months time at the most. I surprised to hear they allowed you to get 60!

But to be precise: it were 60 abuse reports in 13 months, so maybe (if at all) it's a combination of overall- and per-month-complaints (and maybe combined with your earnings, that's how i would do it) ... but of course still a guess

 

I think they are just trying to shift porn traffic to filesonic to take the legal heat off of hotfile. Even my hotfile search engine now returns almost all filesonic results, implying they are tied together.

Just an opinion, of course.........

 

Rapidshare is dead in my opinion and the worst is that uploaders need to pay lol.
Best solution would be multiupload so everyone could choose the host they want , even though not many will use it , would be great to at least allow it for the few uploaders who dont care about making money from uploads.

 

I don't think so. Of course if you got a lot of your files deleted the bigger the chances are of getting your account suspended but I know someone who was sharing specific files (distributor) and had his account suspended without any abuse reports. So I reckon regardless the number of abuse reports you've had if a big company steps in, let's say Pl@y_boy, and tells HF either you suspend that account or we'll sue your company which action do you reckon they are going to take? Suspend that account. Easier and cheaper.

 

it happens in multiparts only (not single links) the 2nd part to be slowest not always but occasionally.

Try to right click and select --> reset that specific part and DL again (if u 're using JD)
