What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

I'll wait to se what the guys here @ Phun do b4 i sign up to any new File hosting sites.

 

Hotfile and rapidshare seem to be working out fine. It eliminates the cash posters who are not heroes by posting a new vid. The same day it hits phun, it hits saff, hornywhores, pornbb and porn w, just like it has for the last three years. I wouldn't mind if cash posters went the way of the dodo bird. I can always find what I want in 5 minutes.

No rash moves right now. Some hosts are adding servers, but at what cost? Time, money? We don't know yet. Netload is OK in europe, dead bang slow as snails in the USA. Filepost has impossible wait times between dls, and the idiots posting on them are now breaking links to 100 MB. SO if you want to dl a 305 MB link, it will take apx. 24 hours.

I've never spent a penny on a filehost and I sure would advise folks not to for at least 90 days. If I was a millionaire I wouldn't give a red cent to netload, by far the slowest host of all time.

Uploaded several files with hotfile last week, and today my account has already been banned lol
I wonder how can some poster still be able to use hotfile, maybe they are very lucky and hasnt received a signle dmca

 

Hotfile banning alot of accounts and deleting loads of files!!

Is there any hope?

 

I've been using Gobbler.com since the shutdown. It's meant for media creators to backup/transfer their project files but is super fast to transfer any file as well. They're giving away free 5GB accounts which is good enough for me for the month. On the same note, files that have already been txfrd through their system send instantly...pretty cool feature in my mind.

 

That's not a new behaviour for hotfile, but after MU&FS desaster surely more guys have used HF, and so they have to put more pressure on uploaders.
Wouldn't be surprise if RS has to act in a similar way soon.
Same as DF, it is banning more and more new users, or just look at oron: only the big posting machines have been "approved", they don't want average uploader anymore, they are causing to much dcma-trouble.
Every remaining filehost sees itself under heavy pressure now, the agents are still around and since there are much less posts, the chance of getting reported is much higher than before. Guess they see a chance now to finally kill all the filehosters ...

But i'm afraid that HF is maybe the worst of the remaining old hosts: i got dcma-notices recently for two files that have been already deleted 7 months ago. Of course HF is not checking if the dcma-notice is really valid, it's done automatically, but that of course means that there are also not checking if the files are still alive. This way you can get a lot of dcma-notices even if you have deleted your files to prevent that.
HF is just too risky to use if you have big collections.

why not instead turning this site to a private torrent site instead?
