Looks a bit like that austrian entertainer that was in esc a few years back. Wurz? Conchita? Something like that.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you doing it and I respect what you wrote.

I agree she may not be ticking all my boxes and yes she still has such a long way to go.

But Emma has done good, she has contributed, (more of that shortly) but in that interview, I don't think she did herself any favours.

I don't think it was her intention and if I was being kind I’d say she lacks some aspects of real-life experience and is ironically naive in some aspects of it.

To me when you choose as a public figure to speak up, you need to be fully informed and when you give interviews take care to show you're fully aware.

Yes a lot of content of the interview was personal to her life, but when she starts comparing her life, her lifestyle to "Ordinary People" and at the
same time expressing her anxiety, there's a fine line between her feelings and identifying with others and navel-gazing from her ivory tower.

If I'd of been here management/advisors I would have questioned certain aspects of the interviews, but Emma seems to well aware of what
she wants, but I'd question a lot of her decisions especially when it comes down to film choices when compared to say, Keira Knightley.

What got to me is how detached she is from what I see.

I suppose I see what’s happening on the streets and to friends that work but still can’t afford to feed themselves & their families, the working poor.

Then the challenges young people face with gangs.

She does seem sweet in the interview in some ways, but also for someone who’s decided to speak out on public issues, it’s a bit of a one way Street,
it might be unfair but it came over in places that she sits in her ivory tower and says she anxious on her plight of celebrity and getting older.

Her interview has got a lot of reaction, not all of it positive, but I agree with her on being "Self Partnered", but again I don't think she did herself
any favours in coming up with the term.

I agree with her, that at the end of the second decade of the 21st Century, some parts of Society still have the "Spinster" label for Women of a certain
age, that they are somehow incomplete if they don't have a partner, children and in Emma's case a long term boyfriend/partner.

Emma, as I mentioned, has done a lot of good in her causes and I think her heart is firmly in the right place.

Not many people seem aware of it that she's donated £1m of her own money to a new campaign aiming to help those affected by sexual harassment.
    https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...s-women-letter-red-carpet-times-a8216151.html

That went all but unnoticed, so I'd say she needs better PR people!!!

You mentioned, "You seem to base your criticism of her mainly because of her privileged status".

Far from it, good for her, to me its what you do with her privileged status once she decides to speak up.
No one pushed her into it, but once you have, you need to be careful what you say in print or appear in interviews, (yes it wouldn't be the first time what was said and what appears in print is different, but I haven't seen her complain about that, just that she'd wish people read/watched the whole interview).

I have no problem with anyone having a privileged status, good for them.

Yes, I've seen horrible things that have happened to young people who live on the street
and the attitude of some who are lucky and have money who encounter them.

But I have no problem in asking those with a privileged status to help out and I'm delighted to say they do.

I volunteer for Centrepoint and we "Celebrated" our 50th anniversary this week, Prince William is our patron (as his Mother was before him)
he does a lot and like his mother, he turns up unannounced and helps out, when he and brother were young she brought them to volunteer for
    an evening.
    https://centrepoint.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-and-events/special-events/#

He's staged Gala's, in which those Celebrities pay big money to attend, so they might not be hands-on in helping out.
But they're using their Celebrity status (and money) to help.

Yes, I'm a hypocrite, what I spend on breakfast (around £5) is more than some of the homeless have to live on for two days in some cases.
After I do my bit, I go home to a nice flat, food in the kitchen and a warm bed.

Emma has done her bit and I hope in the future she can do more like you said a long way to go, but she's getting there.

I don't doubt she truly believes in the causes she has been vocal about, but this specifically irked me a bit. Considering we have had a rash of Trans people(especially ones of color) being tortured and murdered on this side of the Atlantic for who they are, there is no comparison with their plight and a wealthy celeb who can jet off to resorts and have security with her everywhere she goes. Very out of touch. Not to mention she is apparently such a feminist that she had to skip the Little Women premiere for the very important task of... being with her hipster dork BF. Is her heart in the right place? Yeah. But she also seems to have this mental block to just be unable to see how privileged, selfish and hypocritical she can be; don't present yourself as this paragon of virtue unless you truly are or have the act down to a tee or else you'll be criticized like this, and deservedly so.

    Sorry, @SophieK81 .

Firstly I acknowledge that through voluntary activities you have ongoing first hand experience of dealing with street-level deprivation in London, and as a consequence have insights into what does and could make a difference to the victims. Secondly, it's clear that you have a greater personal understanding of the incidence and impact of gender prejudices and their byways and dark alleys than I could ever lay claim to. Thirdly, and most significantly in this instance, I have already alluded to the little I really do know about Emma Watson, whereas it's clear you've followed her career and activities pretty closely.

Debating any topic from such a weak position against someone with real knowledge and practical experience of the subjects in hand is rarely going to end well!

    I withdraw! :)

    Thanks for the Kristen input!!!

Don't come back as a Woman, at times it's not fun (stomach cramps/back ache) and now a head cold worthy of "The Fly", please not the ears, I'm flying on Friday.

    Meanwhile

Reasons to be cheerful: England vs Kosovo today at 5pm and then tonight new version of "The War of the World's".
