So it's family property, and it's your family, but you can't have a piece of it?????

 

The picture was taken by a second cousin of mine that lives there in his parents house (both died several years ago, as they were my great aunt and uncle). I am sure this is multiple shots taken on a tripod, then "stitched" together using graphic software. He is standing on my Grandmother's dock....which I helped build in 1972 and rebuild in 1990. A cousin of mine now owns my Grandmother's house and property.

 

very cool. some cameras can actually do that in the camera now - no post production needed.

 

How far from home is the property, Thore?

 

It was subdivided in the late 1940's with one-seventh going to each of the 7 children of my great grandfather, my grandmother being one. Each heir got lake frontage and several lots behind the frontage lots. My father bought back lots from his mother and retired there in 1980. My sister was willed my parents house and property.

I don't go out there much anymore as it is a sad place for me now.....I had such a great time out there as a kid with all of the great aunts and uncles, aunts and uncles, first and second cousins, etc. and now 80% are gone.....just too many ghosts out there for me now.......

 

20 to 25 miles....about a 45 minute drive.

 

I get it. It's for the better right now.

 

I think it bothered my Dad most though....his father was a pharmacist that got hooked on morphine, abandoned the family, etc. My Dad dropped out of college to come home and go to work to help support his mother and three younger sisters....later, when his mother had to subdivide her land and sell it, my Dad did most of the maintenance work on the weekends for about 15 years.....and his thanks was that the sisters conspired to have my grandmother's house and property given to them...my grandmother refused to make a will. But, what goes around, comes around.....one day....somehow. In the meantime, I refuse to let that get me down.....

 

I have 3 "conspiring" sisters whose antics have degraded many parts of my family's relationships with each other. They seriously have caused serious problems.

 

seems that the same story is repeated in many families. those who do extra don't always get rewarded accordingly. At least you have a clear conscious. That's worth more than any land.

 

I have no conflicts with any of my older sister or brothers......except that they have all gone super-religious and I can no longer stand to be around them for that reason. I have not seen my sister that lives 45 minutes away in over a year and a half, nor spoken with her. Same for my brother that lives in North Carolina now. My other brother lives about 30 minutes away in the opposite direction of my sister, and I only see him once or twice a year.

I am very grateful to my parents as they taught me self-respect, respect for others, a good sense of right and wrong, to always be kind, and if you can't be kind, then leave....but most of all an honest work ethic....that nobody is going to give you anything and if you want something, you will have to work for it....and of course, honesty and integrity. Now they had their faults as does everybody....after all, parents are people too.....but overall, they were great human beings that work hard and sacrifices all their lives for others.

 

Buncha boloney that happens in families.
