I live in a small town with predominantly white people. I lived in London for five years so I'm not an idiot, but I am uneducated about certain things, and a little off. For instance me and my best friend were drunk and reciting lines from Friday (Ice Cube. Chris Tucker) when drunk as hell a few years back. Neither of us are racist/prejudice, but both love the film (as do pretty much all of my mates). But we realised slightly too late that we were in the area of a few guys that wouldn't take kindly to our enthusiastic movie quotage. It just goes to show you how seemingly innocent and well meaning fun can really upset someone else.

 

There is a reason I have managed to reach my age without being shot or stabbed...

 

Great movie! I can and do recite that movie line for line. The truth of it is that no white person should say the n word around a black person (whether its the n word that ends wit an A or an R) out of respect. Thats my opinion. I am always mindful of my company when i quote moviez like that or quote rap songs, which is my preferred music style.

 

I find it simpler and safer to just never use the "n" word.

What is hilarious for me is that a seemingly derogatory word for white people by black people is cracker. Over here cracker/cracking, means amazing


I wonder if gay people have cuss words for straight people?

 

Good rule of thumb. But it is much more prominent for me. Most of my friends throughout my life have been black. I have been listening to rap and embracing the hip hop lifestyle since i was 9. So i hear the word so often its become part of normal everyday vocabulary. I have to consciously be mindful about the word. I mean every song i sing along with has the word multiple times in it. Its just different.

Fag is one of those words for me. Over seas its a cigarette, over here its a derogatory term for a homosexual.
Gay is another one. It means homosexual, but is also used as a negative term to describe something that sucks.
