was busy cleaning up old apartment. so much work to clean up!

 

I've never told that story before. I was ashamed of myself for actually going at a person over a stupid word. I'm the first guy to want to settle things with words. That night I just lost it.

A Scot, Scottish, Scots are all good, calling us Scotch is really, really offensive.

 

I dont find it shameful. Youre human

 

My dad was a negotiator. He may or may not have been proud of me that night if he were here.

 

I can't speak for Scotland but over here in the US loyalty means shit anymore. It's expected of you now. All upper lever management now have an outlook of 'you should be lucky you still have a job, now do everything I want you to do and do it as quick as you can'. Gone are the days that you could stay in a position, work your ass off and rewarded for it. You do it now to just keep your job, not to get ahead.

 

Most of the people I know here say "Scotch" because they think it sounds correct. They are not trying to be offensive.

I recently got promoted at work (not very far) and demoted within months. I was trying to move the system we worked in forward, the same system me and a handful of other guys had developed over several years. When the bosses boy went against me I almost lost my job. I told them that they were not the company, that we were, the low paid workers on the shop floor. Without them the company would not exist and that loyalty should be shown to us. I was demoted on the same day.

I wouldn't think that they were, simply uninformed. I wouldn't take offense to anyone using that term without knowing.

I can't speak for every company in the US but honestly where I work? You would have lost your job on grounds of discontent.

They can do that there? Madness Bama!!!! I've had full on fight with my management. Shouting matches with all three managers, almost fist fought the foreman twice! Everyone else is in line
