I say both, just remember to only use one of each, things can get fucked up very fast otherwise.
I use eset smart security, not the cheapest out there but it is possible to get a cracked version, which will give you an excellent defence, only downside (except the price) is that it updates very often... not that that's a bad thing, it's just that it seems to do it while the pc is highly occupied with other things.

I haven't tried it myself for real but AVG is also told to be a great antivirus, and the + is that it's free of charge

I have tried avast antivirus but that's extremely resource demanding, or it was a couple of years ago when I tried it, Nortos is the same withe the extra of being expensive. McAfee should also be good from what I have heard.. then you have the swedish Telia antivirus, which is said to be good but from my experience it's a magnet for sucking up everything it doesn't protect against, which seems to be quite a lot

 

i need somwthing that isnt to resource demanding. Thanks guys.

 

Eset use almost nothing, which made it perfect for me as my pc is a bit low on resources.

 

There are 2 kinds of firewalls, one is software firewall and the other is a hardware firewall

 

a hardware firewall is of course the best, but a software one works quite good too
