I heard the Hobbit was 2 hrs 45 minutes of slow going. great visuals a story slower than dirt. How they're going to stratch 1 mid sized book into 3 movies Ill never know

I don't know what's in Jackson's mind... But something is sure : he wants to expand "his" universe (his vision of Tolkien) and make the right links to The Lord of the Rings... and it works!!!

AMAZING movie overall. I know it's a little slow but it's the same really than the trilogy. Let say that if Bombadil was in the first movie (The Fellowship), I think the movie would've been almost 4 hours and more... and if Saruman was appearing in the Shire instead of Orthanc... The Return of the King would've been like 5 hours long! ;)

But I won't tell anything from the movie. You can expect to see a few more things and that is why the movie can be very long (and there'll be an Extended Edition too).

I understand. :) I grew up with LOTR movies so it was somehow great for me to return to Middle-Earth.

hmm, we'll see. Ive been reading the middleearth books a little over 40 yearsnow and i absolutely detested the lotr movies.

Im sooooo not interested in jackson's opinions on how to "update" the quintessential fantasy series. I wouldnt pay $.05 for anything jackson came up with. Leave the stories the fuck alone. just put them up on screen just the way theyre written and cut out wha you HAVE to. Dont add a goddamned thing.

I still say lotr should have been done by the "shrek" movie people. theres no other story that could have been done as well in cgi. Avatar tech/cgi with Tolkiens story.

the movies were crap. They were "updated" to be more "in tune" with todays sensibilities. That just means they added a bunch of pc crap at the expense of cutting the story.

you should read the original books. NOT the movie adaptation books. your library should have all 4
