A bit chilly here too......0 C and may warm up to 10C before dropping to -2C again tonight. I know you are significantly colder.

 

I think I need to employ someone to tend to the fireplace... as I either am too lazy to go and make a fire or forget to keep it going.

 

actually it's worse around those temps.. one sort of get used to it as it drops.. except when it drops below 25C.. I'll never get used to that

 

I will have to go to the store to get some things before they close, then I'll have to drop in on a friend to explain some things about an alternator that he's confused over.....

but I have to light a fire first so that it's gonna be warm when I get home again.











and I really have to go to the bathroom

 

but in order to do those things I need to get up off this chair

 

My little wood burning stove is a pain in the ass.....you have to constantly clean it out as the ash will quickly build up and block the incoming airways. The only way to clear the blocked airways is to vacuum it out and you can't have any hot coals there when you do that. This means you have to shovel most of the ash out, then give any possible hot coals a day to die out before you can fully clear the air ways. It is currently clean and I will load it today to start a fire in it about 5 or 6 hours from now. I hate the way things in the USA seem to be designed and built for show rather than function. :?

 

-25C would be rough. :shock: Especially if there is any wind involved too.

 

I need to do some financial bookwork and pay some bills today....so I should be around most of the time today.....kinda in and out.

 

I can go a week or two without taking the ash out, and as it's collecting in a box with handles it's just to take it outside and empty it, doesn't have to be cool either.

 

I can take out hot ashes in a bucket.......see, your is designed and built for function whereas mine is mostly for looks. It is a stove insert into a very inefficient fireplace, so I am better off with it and space is limited.....but it is still a pain in the ass. I would love to be in a position to design and build another house without the wife.

 

Well, i am going to break away for a while to do some work.......and you can get started on your list of things you need to do too. See you in a little while...
