    I know you guys don't know about lovebugs, but they are out here and they are a real pain. The are the size of large fat mosquitoes....they do not bite, but they come out in the billions. They really mess up your vehicles. They are black with lots of yellow guts. You have to wash them off almost immediately from painted areas of your car or the acid in the guts will eat the paint down to the primer. The also fly around you, getting in your hair and face as well as in your house. They hatch out and mate during May and September. The die soon after mating.

    They are an invasive species that migrated up0 from Central America, the east along the Gulf coast. My first experience with them was in summer of 1962. The only good thing is that there are only billions now....40 years ago there were zillions. They have no natural enemies....they are so bitter that even the birds and reptiles will not eat them. YUK!

    They are a real pain in the butt and cost folks a lot of money related to having their cars washed....I have to laugh at bikers with out windshields during lovebug season. :rofl:

    I'm just waiting to see what Lisa wants to do. She will be home soon, I'm hoping before the end of the month. She may have to overnight in the City before coming. if so I may meet her there to pick her up.

    And I forgot to tell you guys why they are called love bugs.....right after the larvae hatch out, the male and females mate and stay attached to each other, butt to butt, with the larger female doing all of the flying. They stay attached for several days before the female will lay her eggs in the grass, then they both die.
