you can never watch too much :p

actually, the footage where you see the Miranda Class ship at the Battle of Wolf 359, is in the first episode of Deep Space Nine, "Emissary", because that was the ship Sisko was serving on

I actually thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun. It wasn't perfect and I wish they did a couple things differently, but I really enjoyed it.

Yeah, actually I liked it. As long as it stays with the Sinbad/Jason and the Argonauts style I like most of them.

    Except Voyager.

Hated the whole dumbass cast+writing on Voyager. I just pretend it didnt exist

As soon as they made a black nappy headed Vulcan I set phasers on kill.

FFS, my whole childhood was "you pointy eared green blooded Vulcan"

I agree that Voyager overall wasn't that great of a show

Drat... guess Inuk really did pass out. Really wanted to share this with him:

    [youtubehd]M-Ycf1lpe4Q[/youtubehd]

Basically, one of the major adult video companies got 25 of their hottest & most talented adult actresses and put them into a singing/dancing group. Goddamn brilliant if you ask me. :D

Because Vulcans are GREEN! not white, not black, not brown, GREEN itwas part of the original theme Roddenberry set out. It made species-ism take the place of racism. it was one of the outstanding, pioneering parts of the show. That way he could demostrate all kinds of stuff without getting censored. It was ground breaking and they dragged it right back down to white vs black racism. Directly in opposition to what Gene managed to do so successfully.

green blooded, but not green skinned. I'm sorry man, I don't get your argument what so ever. Saying that there shouldn't be a black vulcan in itself sounds racist. I'm sure that's not your intent though.

Of course not. It's an old argument that serves no purpose. Had it a million times.
Only part of the show I liked was the cook. Him I liked. Ryan looked good but the premise was retarded.
    Next.

I think I understand what you're trying to say.

You're saying since having a black vulcan, they can't do any race related type stories with him because the actor is black and most people are weary about doing race related stories involving a black actor/character

    am I in the ballpark?

Just the opposite. By humanizing Vulcans by having their planetary development mimic earth's they're making a political statement on race. My point has always been that Spock and the other Vulcans in the original series were specifically made green and their differences continually pointed out intentionally segregating the Vulcans from humans to make the issue a Species issue, not merely a racial one. Then he could make (for the time outrageous) racial statements and get away with it. Kirk-Uhura kiss was the first in TV history, and Roddenberry played it as totally normal BECAUSE he had already set up the humans/vulcans/klingons/romulans as species enemies.

What they(voyager) did was humanize the situation, dumbed it down for the suits, as it were. The point (original series)was that mankind had gotten passed it's planetary differences and moved out to start the process again with other planets.

ok, for being 1966, I get that

but Voyager came out in 1995 and there had been a hell of a lot of progression by that point. So yeah, I'm sorry, I still don't get the big deal about having a black vulcan.

I think we can agree to disagree on this ;)

I never got into Voyager, so I can't speak to any type of knowledge about the "black Vulcan" - tho I kinda agree with Cyl's point above that it was done to "dumb it down"... unless, was there any episode in Star Trek Voyager that explored the possible racial issues between a black Vulcan and a white/green Vulcan?
