    If it was me, I'd just download and burn the win7 image and do a total wipe and a clean install. I dont do upgrades. Too much hassle, too much chance for fuckups. I spent too many years on MS devnet reading about upgrade related problems. Maybe it's finally fixed, but I'm stuck in the old school of never upgrading windows installs. You're doing fine except for that. Just make sure he has ALL his drivers. Especially his video and network drivers, cuz he's fucked on boot if he doesnt. Like you said, you've done installs and as long as he stays calm and reads the screens he'll be fine.

    That's the thing tho, he can't download Win7 yet because the virus won't let him extract it or burn it, it won't let him run any EXE files from 3rd party software :?

    I doubt you will have Win7 downloaded anytime soon since you will be tied up with reinstalling Vista for an hour or so, there's a lot of links...unless you have an RS of hotfile premium account
