Seriously, I don't know if the US even do postal ballots. I suppose they do for overseas voters (dependants, service personnel etc). I think it comes down to states, even in the big elections.

Is that if you know/think you'll be away polling day? That's the idea behind postal ballots here; it's grown to include people like me who, even if we know we're going to be here on polling day, find it more convenient to sign over to postal voting permanently; you never know when you're going to have an election here (no set dates for elections, aside from the 5 years maximum limit between elections)

I suppose there is an element of convenience with postal ballots; gets it done and dusted and out of the way.

 

i don't know the requirements or restrictions. but i assume if you don't want to go to the poles , you can mail it in.

but i think mostly older people that still want to vote, but can't get around or service people are the ones that use it.

in this state, the primary elections are in may and the main one is in november
