    I appreciate that I'm the new guy here and clearly not as savvy on video files as the majority here. I would like to ask however how to go about playing .rar files, as whenever I download any vids from here I only get sound and no picture. Is there a specific download I need?

    I ask because there are a hell of a lot of great vids I've seen available on this site which are .rar and I'd hate to miss out.

    you need winrar to extract the files and maybe one or two yet missing codecs from K-lite

    Good advice, right click the rar file and use the 'Extract to..(file name)

    Open the folder that appears and play the video, after you've installed Klite and Media Player Classic.
