Sharingmatrix and Hotfile

i cant download much, now u changed over to this sharing matrix lark etc, theres far too many now and im not paying for all of them so ill look for just Rapidshare stuff elsewhere im really kinda ticked off by all the different ones to download from and meaning im here less

I've already stated my suggestions on what to do about Sharingmatrix, Hotfile and the insane increase of low-quality posts & reposts. Hopefully, things will turn to the better in the near future.

Of course, we all know how crazy it's been in the Sexy Videos section, but it's even more sobering when you look at the numbers... it took me about an hour, but I decided to look take a comparative look at the increase thread traffic at Phun over the past 4th of July weekend (July 2nd - 4th) compared to another past 3-day period in late May (Memorial Day weekend, May 28th - 30th) before SharingMatrix and Hotfile were added.

Now keep in mind, this is only applies to threads started during this period and I figure there's a +/- 10 threads to these numbers. Still the numbers are just head-shaking:

Threads Started May 28-30 (before Hotfile and SharingMatrix)
May 28 - 52
May 29 - 60
May 30 - 51

Total threads: 163, average of 54.3 threads started per day

Threads Started July 2-4 (after Hotfile and SharingMatrix)
July 2 - 241
July 3 - 242
July 4 - 266

Total threads: 749, average of 249.6 threads started per day!

Phunfolks, that is a 360% increase in threads started since SM and HF were added. And I don't think the quality of posts has increased anywhere close to that percentage (it's probably gotten worse). I mean, when 31 new threads are started in only an hour (11:00AM-12:00PM, July 4), I just feel for the mods in how they're dealing with all of this. And as more cash-focused posters join Phun, that thread average will only increase.

 

SM sucks. please bin it

 

I use JDownloader for my RS downloads, so I tried it with sharingmatrix; it was SUCH fun watching it count down for 10 minutes then reset the fucking timer.
Sharingmatrix = big fat pile of shit.

 

I heartily agree, mokkoriman. None of the new posts I've seen have motivated me to join SM. I don't mind spending 9 or 10 bucks for downloading privileges, but it has to be worth it, minimally. While the nuru stuff comes close, I'll get it elsewhere on RS. I've had HF for awhile, but they're a nightmare to communicate with. I've tried to cancel them several times, but they keep automatically renewing. That there are more HF posts, I haven't complained again. The thing is, when and if I have to add SM to my repetoire of paid services, I want to direct it to someone I download a lot from, like mokkori, or gearhead.

 

Waterloo, to cancel your hotfile auto renewal, you need to do it from your paypal account! For some reason, thats how HF has it set up.

 

yes, I did that initially. There was a warning in there that once you cancelled, you couldn't go back, and I agreed, but it kept renewing. It happened a little while ago, but then HF downloads started appearing, so I kept it, for now.
Actually, the reason I cancelled in the first place was that they renewed me and I couldn't access the service. Then they renewed me again the next day, and I still couldn't. I complained to Paypal and my bank, got all my money back, then, out of nowhere, they renewed me again, and I could access the service. It was a little like dealing with martians but I haven't had any issues for a couple of months, except sometimes when I try to log in they say my computer doesn't accept cookies, which isn't true.

There's a very simple way to deal with it.

 

Sharing Matrix is an unmitigated disaster for boards around the world. I am very surprised that PHUN has allowed it here.

Sharing Matrix is pervasive and has posters posting simply for the "sake of posting" and not because they have any allegiance to a specific board. They are spamming all boards.

My tastes lie in foot fetish and light bondage, and since there are not many of these aficiandos here, I don't post content. The boards I frequent are absolutely infiltrated with reposts and best-ofs and any other trick these spammers can get to click on their posts and dl. Moderators and members are at each other throats over these sharing matrix cash posters.

And all of this for what? All of this manipulating, reposting and spamming to what end? A free $12.00 account each month? How much "cash" do these actual "cash posters" see at the end of all the hemming and hawing; at the completion of all their ham and egging? Not much I think. Less than $100.

My true answer is, not enough to destroy a forum like PHUN...

 

AMEN brother, just what I've been ranting and raving about, well said. The cashwhores, I'm guessing, are mostly from 3rd world (no offence meant to anyone here) countries where $100 a month for basically sitting on a computer for 4 or 5 hours a day and spamming links is a sizable income boost. Then again a lot of them are just jagoffs.

 

I for one started to use SM (free) when I could actually download from them, however they appear to have blocked Western Europe and the USA from free downloading in the hope we will buy premium accounts, so I say ban them.

Also, a lot of posters seem to forget Megaupload was an acceptable host before this all started, along with RS.

Anyway no more uploads from me for now.

Just my two cents but I'm allready tired of the spammers who've migrated back here now that sharingmatrix is allowed. I think the "test" should be over and sharingmatrix should go the way of the dodo. Just saying.

 

The last few posts are about spamming POSTERS, not the quality of the host. The folks who have been here a while know that we have had some members who are big on "reposting" stuff for well over a year, so the issue is not new, just the frequency.

Let the mods "correct" them when they err. And if they don't respond properly, BAN them. The worst of them will not respond because they don't look at their threads except to throw up more crap for their points.

I confess to throwing a few sheckels at SM to try it, and I have no problems with it in terms of function, though the much of the content tends to be cluttered with crap clips of small size and poor quality.

 

Well then, allow me to retort....

The quality of the host sucks balls as well, read some of the posts others have made on it, abysmally low DL speeds when you can get a DL going AT ALL (the lovely eternal 10 min. waiting loop).

Your 'let the mods correct them' idea is all well and good, the problem being the sheer volume of bullshit posts being thrown at them and the fact that many of them simply can't be trashed or banned because they have TECHNICALLY followed the posting rules even when posting total spammy crap clips. The only TRUE solution is to shitcan SM altogether, re-ban it from the board.

 

SM is just shit !!!

 

I think after 12 pages of reply, moderator should ban sharingmatrix. Now its over lots of complaining about sharingmatrix.

this place was great cuz as soon as you went to Vids forum you knew that the newst threads were new vids now the new stuff a pushed way down the pages to make way for old vids reposted just to make some money.
