The NEW 2001pm - Phun Random Chat Thread!

2001 Lowrider....with significant modifications and add ons....good for local and long hauls. Has about 100K miles on it.

It is not a "bagger" but I have ridden it to Maine and back in summer of '08.

 

The road glide ultra is what I want.....

 

Looks like it is loud and not a comfortable ride....:?

 

When I bought mine used (six month old and 1,300 miles on it) it had a high performance exhaust on it.....I have modified it and made it much more quite.....until you crank on the throttle. This way I can ride out of my neighborhood at 6 AM and not disturb anybody.

 

wow that looks nice! that is a traveling bike no doubt. Probably very comfortable too. Lots of amenities too I see. Helluva bike. Do you see one in your future?

No......I only have $ to cover the bills...:? That bike out the door with some adds would run close to $30K. But it is on my lottery list!

 

that sucks! I hope one day all the stars will align for you Thore. Sucks that you work your whole life and then when you are done you cant even do something nice for yourself. A little pat on the back for a job well done.

I made the choice to spend all of my retirement savings on my sons' post high school education....which between the two of them has approached $1 mill.

 

Nice! I like the exhaust a lot. You got creative with the suitcases. Did that affect the ride of the bike at all? I suppose no more so than having a passenger, right? Speaking of, does your wife ride at all?

 

Wow! Hard to find fault in that. Still, 30 grand for old pop would have been nice. Maybe some day the kids will remember good old dad in a fond way

 

That luggage load is similar to a 200 pound passenger. That was a two week trip, so that is why there was that much luggage. And my wife went on one weekend trip with me in the summer of 2002 and that was the last....when she is on the bike, there are two unhappy people on the bike... I loved being alone for two weeks on that 2008 trip.

 

One can only hope....and that they can do that before my biking days are over....

so the luggage probably was a load heavier than you? So did it affect the ride?

Too funny about the wife Was there more enjoyment involved in both of your younger years or has this pretty much always been the case?

 

Did not really effect the ride on the open highway, but did have an impact on urban ride as turning was different and stopping/starting was a little more challenging as one would expect with raising the center of gravity.

I suppose the earlier years had more interaction, but we have totally grown apart. Now that the kids are out of the nest, the only common interest we have is our dogs....mostly, I just want her to leave me alone.

 

Funny as shit, but a little sad.
