Was pretty good, but a lot of people hunt out of season of killed a lot of doe and young deer, so it hasn't been that good around out land. We used to rent it out to a hunt club until they were hunting near out lumber yard was. They were too reckless. We heard them shooting only a few yards away from us so we stopped renting out.

 

damn man, that sucks bigtime! i hate people who disrespect the places they hunt in.

Sorry to say this is stereotypical but asian people do alotta dirty shit. I know because i know in alot of the vietnamese restaurants i go to you can get venison almost year round and I know these are not farm raised deer. they busted a poacher ring of 47 people who hunt deer with crossbows cause it is quiet not to long ago.

This past year around the area i hunt in a chinese dude was arrested for trying to buy bear gall bladder. such assholes like that is what destroys the reputation of legit hunters.

 

Yep, it happens everywhere. Hell we even had some asshole shoot some of out pet geese and one of several blue herons that frequented our pond. And I believe killing heron is completely illegal here.

 

i think killing a heron is illegal everywhere. it is a 10k dollar fine plus 6 months jail here. I know because some dude in a koi club i belonged to killed one and was caught.

 

I'm sure you're right. We have awful guys around here, people using antlers to mark trees where there were no deer so they could hunt the best spots for themselves (of course that was actually clever, till he got caught by the hunt club members)

i am just glad where i go i got y own spots to hunt that is almost a sure thing. to bad the odds of getting selected is 1/6 so i am now going on my 5th year applying for a tag and i hope to get drawn this year.

 

Good luck with that, I just don't have the patience to hunt anymore. I'm not the quiet type either I fidget too much, then again I do like to fish.

 

We have swans that live at my part of the river irvine. Two or three years ago some teens went down and bricked the swans for no real reason.

Retribution was swift.

Why people would want to hurt another living creature for a reason other than self preservation or food is beyond my respect for humanity.

 

Indeed, I had friends that did some stupid shit like that. They would kill young deer for no other reason than they said deer were dumb I told them if deer are so dumb why does it take 10 guys and 20 dogs to catch'em

 

i love fishing. i try to go once a year on that in yosemite as well.

so does shooting ground squirrels to help keep the price of beef down count as a valid reason to shoot them for fun?

 

I have a big pond at my parents house that I fish in, got bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, and perch all just a minute away.

Well as I said we had to take care of ground hogs when we had a farm because of the horses and cows getting injured from stepping in the burrows, so I vote that, that is acceptable.

 

how big is this pond? cause man i love crappie fishing, they are great fighters for their size. catfish i have pulled up like dead logs, but a crappie will always give you a good fight if you have an ultralight pole.

and i agree with you on the ground squirrel thing, until somebody has lived on a farm they have no clue what these varmints can do. It is no different than you wanting to get rid of a rat living in your house.

 

Not sure on the exact size it's pretty good size pond though. You can get around it by walking, maybe a couple hundred yards long and varied in width and depth. My dad dug it out himself when they first built the house, it's got natural springs running to it.

 

damn bro, that sounds like a perfect set-up for alotta different types of activities.

 

(If I'm thinking what you're thinking) A little too close to the house for that. Plus it's out in the open, it stretches right to the county road. But with all the land we have I had some "sweet spots" to um....

I get what you are saying. where i hunt at most of the land is wide open country as well, so it is not like i can do covert stuff. there could be rangers up on hills looking down at the valley and such.

 

Well were we live there's plenty of woodlands and backroads, just could do anything to close to the house. I wouldn't care if anyone saw us, just wouldn't want my parents spying on me
