evening DG.

How's your computer cleaning going along?

 

eh ended up having to take a break due to family issues - so sitting down to it now. productive day other than that, though spent more money than planned.

 

i have 3 computers i have to clean up as well. i am sitting on 460 gig of unesed space right about now but my delemma is the main pc won't boot up because of the two frozen drives that is sitting empty because the pci to sata card i installed is corrupted. If i can get it installed properly or fixed i can open up that remaining 460 gig of unused space and fill it up and start cleaning out all my 2.0 terabytes of used space. :-?

 

sounds nice - I went tower shopping today while out & got a few ideas, so that will help - just have to wait another couple of paychecks to start ordering parts - and of course, that's mixed in with the other toys on my "must purchase" list...

 

i don't care for large towers but my favorite and the one i got now is an Antec sonata2 ultra quiet case. This thing in conjunction with my ultra quiet cpu fan makes my comp whisper quiet. I cannot even hear it running at all.

bad part is it only holds 3 drive bays, 2 3.5 bays, and 4 HD bays.

My conversion is i attached a HD on one of the 3.5" floppy bay, installed an internal HD case in one of the 5.25" bay and load up 4 HD in the HD bays. for a total of 6 hd's.

 

yeah the one I'm looking at has 11 drive bays, I think that will be somewhat close to enough! plus front & rear USB, firewire & audio ports

size matters!

 

where are you going to find a MB that can support that many HDs? It is just way to big and bulky if you ask me to have a monstrous tower like that.

 

well I won't end up using all the space, at least for a while - but I'd rather have the upgrade space available than be stuck like I am now with no room in the box to do anything. Kind of the way I am with most of my stuff - if I can afford it I buy the good stuff that lasts forever, as opposed to the cheap stuff you have to replace every few years.

 

with technology moving so fast i rather just buy a new one every couple years. although my latest comp was built within a year from the previous one.

I like the idea of just scrapping an old one and starting over. It makes it alot more challenging.

 

Well I built this one in 2002, so it is definitely at the point of replacement. And I can't afford the super-Mac system I would love, so building another PC is the best choice. Of course, if I get all that extra drive space it will be even harder to make myself sort the stuff - funny how your saved data always grows to match the space, and not the reverse... kind of like closets in the house...

 

lmao, yeah i know what you mean.

but i like mid sized cases and something that is managable.

 

Well I haven't bought anything yet, so we'll see the final result when it happens.

true! though hell, this thread wanders through enough female-friendly moments they would be fine, even if we don't compare clothing sales or grooming tips... but hell, I'm just wishing now I guess...
