Our contracts state that until we have new employment somewhere else we will continue to come to work until the end of the year. We fixed that by each hiring another to help with a new initiative that starts tomorrow morning and paid each other $2000 each as a sign on bonus so it counts as gainful employment with the understanding that we start in the morning. Of course I had to borrow mine from my good buddy Dave, because I loaned mine to our other buddy John, who was a little short because he had loaned Dave some money. Funny how these things work out aint it? Strangely enough, the district is required to pay us till the ET time they stated in the ET notice the lawyers gave us today...

  4. This is an interesting way of getting out of a contract.

:hi: PH, thanks, where's the UE bar? I'm thirsty...

Yeah, Bama, we saw it coming, but thought at least we'd get the severance pay. They fucked us on that. But we fucked them right back by having jobs already at this strangely new consultants group that the business license was just applied for a couple weeks ago.

Oh, we didnt "get out of" our contracts. They hit us with ET, and made us agree to stay until we had other jobs. We just happened to get jobs all at the same new company at the same time. Not our foult on that one. We totally fulfilled our contracts and expect to be paid our normal salaries until the ET date. It would be a terrible breach on their part, if they failed to meet their end of the release agreement that they came up with. I imagine we'd have to sue for breach of contract on their part and ask for compensation of say, $20,000 each + lost wages + mental anxiety + legal fees. At least, that's what our attorney told us. I feel so bad about it.

    ET Early Termination

We had auto renewing contracts with the district that were reviewed each year.

Now, I just have to make some whiny, depressed comments in a few emails, get drunk a couple times, bitch on the phone a bit and post a few morose things on a few tech forums and I'm good to go on the mental anguish angle for when they try to cut our pay at the end of the month. :) I'll get my full wages until Christmas break just as was agreed, and unless they want to lose a lawsuit almost automatically and pay even more, I'll sit right here at home on my ass to do it.
