......I'm just gonna avoid the argument........BUT, I've been an NRA member for nearly 20 years.......so my views are pretty easy to figure out.

 

a general discussion about weapons wasn´t intended... just a "comment" on DG´s and Azz´s talks about DG´s dealing with stupid people, carrying guns etc.. no offense.
in case anyone wants to i´m here, though

 

Hey, that's what this thread is for.....I guess. Discussion, general and otherwise.....no offense taken by me. There are lotsa stupid "trained" people with guns too.

certify them and hand them a gun, we do it for cops and trust that they do the right thing, why differentiate between a person with a badge and one without? you have good cops and you have bad cops. criminals wouldn't bother going through the training to be allowed to carry concealed. they'd just carry it anyways.

 

let´s say at a certain point there will be an arguing or worse instead of a discussion. seen that often enough here (attendees excluded )

anyways - i prefer to have it as difficult as possible to buy arms. no need for a bank to give away free arms for signing an account at theirs, for example...

one bank here in the US does trade firearms for a certificate of deposit for a set number of years and amount. But they aren't giving away handguns but hunting rifles.

Besides we can go into an argument over this as much as you like, Don't know how much you people are into debates about right to protecting oneself.

The only flaw with that logic is that improvised firearms, or illegal firearms coming into this country is not something that can be stopped. So the criminals will always have access. Look at the two bank robers down in southern california that used fully automatic ak47 and armor peircing rounds. All are illegal in this state but how did they get their hands on them? Just look at countries that had banned firearms like england, has crime gone down? look at australia, it increased because the criminals now know the law abiding citizens can't defend themselves.

 

all the countries that souround you have bans or limitations on firearms. Illegal guns get shipped into the US just as easily as drugs do.

 

oh, most of the illegal firearms "used" in germany are bought in poland, belgium and the netherlands... that´s quite around us...

 

and if you are a law abiding citizen you don't trust yourself to protect the things you care about?

.....less weapons?, that's kinda like the old analogy about closing the barn door after the horses have left. There are thousands, hell maybe millions of "unregistered" firearms in the US alone. Just exactly do you intend on rounding up those unregistered weapons.....where are you gonna look, who are you going to look at?. And do you think that going to a criminals place of residence and saying "may we have your weapon please?" is gonna work?

the saying "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns" is correct. The "bad" guys will always hold onto theirs.
