I would highly recommend giving homebrewing a try DG, it's such a fun time, and after the initial investement of the required equipment, it's much cheaper than buying your favorite beer at the store. (and will probably taste better too)!

Yes that's my hope -- good quality & saving the money. Perhaps after the March vacation I can settle down and give it a try.

And in reality, the initial expense isn't very much. You can find decent home brewing kits for under $100 that will make 5 gallons per batch.

We have a store about a half hour from here I'm going to check out. The other issue for me is the space for while it's fermenting - maybe if I clean the shed out that will work...

see, my project list always grows instead of shrinking!

So here's a dilemma for everyone...feel free to contribute, talk shit or persuade me in either direction.....it's a long one ;)

So I've been with my current girlfriend for over 3 years and just recently had a son and got engaged. The engagement was pressured and the baby was "unexpected" to say the least...I'm the .09% that bypassed the pill...apparently. Things have been fine up until about 4 months ago when the crush of my life decided to let me know that she's available and very interested...to say the least. I've known her (the crush) for about 3 years (work) but never realized dating her would even be a slight possibility - she's only had 3 other long term relationships in her life. We're talking about moving from a 7-8 on a 10 to one of the hottest girls you've ever seen, even for this board, trust me. Needless to say she might just be one of the coolest girls that I've ever met or known personally and that's what's really killing me.

My chica and I have hit that same old shit level in our relationship and it doesn't look like it'll get any better. The "crush" is really into my son, my situation and is totally waiting for me to decide what I want, which is amazing, given her un-attainableness (what?). I'm torn between going with what's convenient and comfortable and settling for what I have, or taking a chance on life and exploring what might be the greatest thing ever...

As of right now the wedding has already been cancelled and since then I've already officially cheated on my girl (she (crush) flew out to Indianapolis for 24 hours just to be with me...ridiculous). Advice anyone?

If you're not comfortable with the girl you have the kid with, why be with her? You're just asking to make your life miserable. Go for the gold, I say.

But on the flipside, you'll have a kid to pay for until he's 18.

I don't know if anybody here would be qualified to give you proper advice on this one. The reason is I can't tell if your story was told with a biased push for us to say go for the new gal or not. Since we only hear from just your side of the story it would be difficult to say. What i want to ask is what would taking this chance with the dream girl mean for you, your son, and your fiance emotionally and financially? If you honestly is not happy with your current situation then make the change. But if you love this new gal simply because it is lust then i say it isn't worth it. Who broke off the wedding plans? Was it you or your fiance? If you two have grown emotionally apart then I would say sit down and talk about it and break it off amicably for your son's sake. Why drag it along. Life is full of tough decisions. It is up to you what you feel will work best for you and the ones you care about. I wish you luck.

As the president said...if you're not comfortable being with the girl, then don't be with her. It's as simple as that. Especially since you metioned you don't think that your relationship will improve.

    well...
    responsibilities vs pursuit of happiness...
what you have vs what you can have...

for "normal" people out of cloisters and monasteries life wasn´t meant being a time of constant self-chastisement.
as for me - guess you won´t be happy if you don´t try to reach the goal, so go for it.
but - not only for legal reasons - don´t forget completely about your responsibilities, at least concerning your son.
    good luck.
