Try using live bream about half the size of your hand for catfish. It should attract bigger ones

I used to watch guys pull monster catfish out of the Mississippi down in New Orleans. I have know idea what they used for bait. Stray cats maybe.

This is what the locals in my area are catching via live or cut shad, bream and eels.

lol. no. pikes, walleyes and perch are the main catches and theres alot of those. bass doesnt survive here. i read somewhere that they tried it. 99,9% of lakes freeze at winter.

trout etcetcetc are the bonus fish dont know the names for the others

I've seen several fish that big caught from the dam a few miles away from my house - they don't even look real. There's rumors that there are catfish at the bottom of the dam that are 3/4 the size of a volkswagon. I don't believe it myself but i've heard it from old men that hang out around there - anything's possible, who knows?

Their size is only limited by their food supply. There's a term for it but I don't recall what is. It applies to many varieties of fish and some reptiles too.

Yeah, I know that. The reason why some large mouth bass' growth gets stunted in lakes. The coosa river is what's close me "The dam impounds 11,200 acres (45.3 km²) with 339 miles of shoreline" pretty good sized.

 

Yeah, bass don't care for that kind of weather. I forgot you're in Finland. Way north.

 

Every dam has this tale told at one time or another. It was recently covered on TDC or TLC on its "Urban Legends" series. Didnt see any car sized fish caught on the show but, I wont try to discredit claims.
