    The record companies don't really look for talented musicians anymore. All the new music is predictable and contrived. I can't stand it. That's why I listen to old rock, blues and jazz mostly. Pop music can all go in the dumpster as far as I'm concerned.

    I'm back. The record companies even over-package the singers with real talent, like Aguilera or Alicia Keys. But, when they appear on Letterman with a live band, they shine like crazy.

    Christina has so much talent it's mind boggling. Did you ever here the Christmas record she did with Dr. John? Classic stuff, both the songs and the pairing. What other pop star would even dare such a thing?

    Abba is a good harmony group with a disco/dance packaged rhythm mix. If you took their ability to harmonize and had them sing jazz stuff, like Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, etc., they'd be poor, but musically appreciated.

    They suck. Their songs are pure pap. I didn't like them as a kid and I've grown to abhor them as an adult. They represent everything that is wrong with the music industry. They should be strung up by their heels and then tarred and feathered and then drawn and quartered. They're evil personified. Evil I tells ya!! Evil, evil, evil!!!

    Mariah Carey was one of her biggest influences. I really like Mariah, her MTV unplugged album is still her best in my opinion. Just simply fantastic.

    The real thing, live!!!!! She starts singing about 30 seconds into the vid... (the dancers with trumpets aren't really playing, but there is a kick-ass live band in the "pit" and on stage, too!)
