I watch pro as much as I watch college but don't keep up with it quite as much. I know many more college players stats, team records and standings...stuff like that. I find it more exciting to watch.

You very, very seldom see teams running the score up that much. If someone is winning big they always pull their starters out and let the younger kids get some experience - problems is that the other team does the same thing so you've still got superior talent playing on the winning team. As for the 600 ypg - only run and shoot offences out west do stuff like that and they will never have close to 100 yards rushing. They use short 2 yard passes instead of the run.

NCAA Division 1 (the biggest) has 114 I think - it's somewhere very close to that if it's not right. I couldn't tell you the numbers in the other divisions, i've never kept up with those. Yes there are different divisions, it based on student enrollment just like your high schools are for Class 1 - Class 6. And not all schools have football teams.

Well, you have your traditional power house schools that that are strong competitors every year. They all go through periods of "being on top" - they compete for the national championship every year. Those same schools seem to take turns at the top. It's funny really, the very top level recruits chose a school that best suites their best talent - that's what determines which team is on top. For example a 6'5 lightning fast receiver would go to a run and shoot style offence over a power I offence even if they big fans of that school. Reason being they showcase their talents and have a better chance at going pro.

Yes, the student populus determines what class the school is in.

Sure The simple reason I prefer college over pro is that the athletes are still playing the game with compasion for the game not for the almighty $$$. It makes it more enjoyable for me to watch.

Precisely - that's not the case in college, well in most cases anyway - you know there's always 1 bad apple in the barrell. But that's where good coaching comes into play. Yeah, "the media" whatever causes the most controvesry gets the front page - not the extremely difficult catch or 90 yard punt return the good guy made.
