Day off is always good. I'm peckish but ate a lot earlier, might just have a nibble later and sleep early.

 

Public holiday in Melbourne where the race is but not here, I was saying we should have the day off here.

but work was cool. We all enjoyed the race on TV and drank away. Rest of the day was slack after that

Doesn't matter who gets elected because they both have to fix the same problems to go forward. McCain knows it, Obama knows it, Congress knows it and there's only so many ways to go about it. The Bush Doctrine (Don't Worry, Be Reckless) will die with his administration. McCain is not going to continue with those policies because frankly he can't. And he wouldn't because he's smarter than that.

The reason he aligned himself with the party faithful over the last two years or so was to get there support/endorsement. If he gets elected all bets are off - he'll tell those people to fuck off. It really is his style. He's a smart old weasel so don't freak out if he winds up winning. I'm not worried about it and neither should you be. I didn't vote for him because I hate the Republican Party on principal.

There were around 300 people in line at the voting precinct. And it hadn't even opened yet! I've never seen it like that in my life.

What they said is true: There is an enormous voter turnout today.

 

I thought if I got there at 6:30 in the morning there may be 20 people in line or something, but not 300!
