nope, kinda screwing them, there's no one to replace me and i doubt they try and hire anyone before the first of the year, my boss took it real well though

 

2 weeks notice isn't screwing them, that's fair warning. Why did you boss take it well, didn't have to pay you?

 

naw, he just told me there would always be a job here for me no matter what so that's a good deal, although I don't think I'll be heading back to an office any time soon and he wasn't real surprised about where i'm going to work, said he figured he would get into a wage battle with this guy by the first of the year

 

Always good to leave on good grounds, never know when layoffs pop up out of the blue. Sounds like competition is good for engieers in your area.

 

the job i'm going to actually isn't for an engineering firm, it's for one of my clients that i've been working with for about 3 years, i guess it has just dawned on him that my boss bills out my time at more than 3 times my pay, so why not just pay me a crapload of money to do it directly for him and still save money at the same time

 

That's exactly how I came to work here. I worked for a hardware vendor installing and troubleshooting networks. I had the job of putting 64 workstations in here, took me about 2 weeks. About a week after I finished the director called me at work and ask me how happy I was in my current job - rest is history.

 

nice, funny how that works out sometimes, unfortunately i didn't win the lottery last night though, thought maybe i'd have a streak of good luck

Since I've been out of my office so much today I've had several to return. Done now, no more work....counting the minutes down before knocking down a few cold ones.
