OK, so I practice X-raying but suspect my approach is somewhat "primitive." Care to educate? How do you "multiply" the image against itself and what is the benefit to doing so? Same question with respect to "layer the region of interest on original."

    Thanks!

PS Multiply mode reveals hidden shadow.

    http://www.sitepoint.com/multiply-mode-in-photoshop/

    (a) Create 'Duplicate Layer' as Background copy (destination original document).
    (b) From Layers tab, right-click Background copy and select Blending Options and change Blend mode to Multiply.
Duplicate Merged Layers and go back to step (a) using original as destination three times.

Before spending time to xray a pic, I use a freeware app called AI Picture Explorer that does the same multiply thing quickly. Select Enhance, then Fix OverExposure, then UnEqualize.

The "region of interest" is her top. After multiplication, the hidden shadows will be visible but the image will be darkened somewhat. Use the Quick Selection tool of PS to "isolate" her top so you can blend the shadows with original as background layer.

As c-through likes to say, "keep it real".

gentlemen. once again i'd like to thank you all for your work in this thread. its my favorite thread on Phun. some of your skills with graphic arts are amazing to me.

i know its controversial as to whether lightening a scene constitutes an x ray or not. is anyone interested in lightening this scene of Rachel Macadams from "The Time Traveler's Wife" ?

I have always wondered if we are seeing bare ass, she is wearing a thong, or if there is back snatch visible. in my opinion , in the 1080 screen caps, it looks like there is visible beaver. imagine if we scored macadams beav shot in a pg 13 movie!

if not, no big deal. and thanks again.

Caps are blurry from her moving - can't really get much more than what you can already see. Even if they weren't blurred, I don't know if I could help you out much without watching the scene. Not really an x-ray since there's no material to see through, more of an image enhancement, but we have done things like that here in the past on occasion. If you can find better HD caps (or make them yourself) I'd see if there was anything more that could be brought out.

Thanks for the mini-tutorial. I use Gimpshop. Do you know if that program contains the features you discuss?

max-a-million: Gimpshop should mimic many of PS's functions but docs are sketchy ... dunno.

opo: No luck wth the Taylor Swift pics. The 'singing in the rain' pics from her concerts have REAL potential.

Gimp can. Make sure the layer dialog is visible(Windows->Dockable Dialogs->Layers). Then basically open picture, copy layer(fourth button at the bottom of layer dialog), change layer mode to "Multiply", copy the "Multiply-Layer" till the screen gets dark:D. Done

You need to use image sites like Imagevenue or Imageshack to post pics into the forum :)

Thanks for the complements, but none of the requests will make good x-rays.

1.) Scanned magazines make poor candidates alone, but photoshoots they cover their bases (and pussies) when modeling lingerie & swimsuits either with another pair of smaller panties, a piece of cloth, or often tissues, and even then it's often airbrushed before publishing to remove anything that may have shown through. Best bet to see downstairs is with a candid beach shot with a wet bathing suit.

2.) A photo of a printed newspaper is even worse than #1.

3.) Again, low resolution photoshoot images aren't the best choice.
